At the same time, we have tried to ensure that we do not cause any bother to our neighbours. We therefore invested heavily in environmental protective measures.
* We had lightweight packaging developed that resulted in considerable savings on material, hence far less waste.
* We use energy and water according to a downright economical plan.
* August 2004 we installed a new roasting machine at a total cost of approximately € 400,000. More than half of this amount was spent on dust and odour filters and on isolation systems to limit noise, along with the dust and smell (although we prefer to call this ‘aroma’).

Because of our location, we’ve always been ahead of general environment standards. But we’ve noticed that after a while they too become as severe as ours, even for industries on industrial estates.
So the cost eventually comes along anyway. Our return on these environmental investments lies in the knowledge that we will be able to remain in our present location and that we’re able to maintain our existing good relations with the local community.
