Aroma: intense green tea with a soft sweet touch.

Taste: a gigantic green 'good morning' that makes you want to start the day.

The story: matcha tea contains 137 times more antioxidants than 'classic' green tea. No wonder this green gold has been consumed for centuries in Japan - the country with the most 100-year-olds.

Composition: there are 2 types

  • The Ceremonial Matcha grows in the hills of Kagoshima, in southern Japan. The very first crop of the softest green tencha leaves is carefully processed in a traditional way. Taste and imagine yourself in a landscape of spring fields. Whisk Ceremonial Matcha is a bright fresh green in color, tastes complex and smooth, followed by a hint of umami and a vibrant juicy sweetness. Fine grassy and not bitter: this is the real deal.

This 100% organic matcha is suitable for the ceremonial style of drinking matcha with only hot water, it is delicious in matcha latte's and is perfect for fine dining. A special cocktail with this matcha? Delicious! This is a cup of pure happiness, we are sure of that.

  • Culinary Matcha (cooking quality) is exactly what you need to make (vegan) cake, pancakes, hummus, gnocchi and other sweet and savory preparations. Culinary matcha is made from tea leaves that are slightly older and thicker. They are picked during the third harvest, just after the summer, at our tea farm in Kagoshima. Our culinary matcha has a fresh green color and a complex soft taste with a savory aftertaste.

What is Matcha?

Unlike other green teas that let you infuse, matcha is stone-ground powder from young green tea leaves. Three weeks before the harvest, Japanese farmers select the highest quality green tea plants. They shade them for slower growth. The limited access to sunlight gives a boost to the chlorophyll, which ensures an intense green color.

It is also the process that grows more L-theanine, a unique amino acid that relaxes the mind without making you feel sleepy. Your matcha tea gets a soft and fruity taste. The combination of caffeine, L-theanine and antioxidants ensures a long-lasting release of energy, which some call "zen energy".

Pure & Organic

After picking, the baby tea leaves are stripped, steamed and dried. This results in "tencha tea" the raw product name of matcha. After this, the tencha tea leaves are carefully ground into powder, until they become pure matcha green tea powder. That way, all the good aspects of the tea are preserved, from plant to tea cup!

Rather than having a tea bag "infused", the beauty of matcha lies in consuming the entire leaf. That is why it is important that what you drink is not full of harmful pesticides. All our processes: from cultivation to harvesting and processing our Whisk Matcha is therefore done in a completely organic manner.
